Sometimes it seems like we are speaking in some sort of code here on the internet.  I would think a sentace like "After using FSH, I noticed my BBT was up and I got a positive OPT suggesting it was time for BMS", would be pretty intimidating for a newbie.

 

Here's a list of translations right out of The Conception Chronicles by Debano, Menzel, Sutphen.  Please feel free to add to the list.

 

2ww = Two week wait after ovulation

AF = Aunt Flo (flow) A.K.A., your period

AI = Artificial Insemination

AO = Anovulation (Someone tell me what this is, please)

ART = Assisted Reproductive Technology

ASA = Anti-Sperm Antibody

BB = Bulletin Board

BBT = Basal Body Temperature

BCP = Birth Control Pills

BD = Baby Dance, (Sex)

BFN = Big Fat Negative (pregnancy test result)

BFP = Big Fat Positive (pregnancy test result)

BMS = Baby-Making Sex

B/W = Bloodwork

CD = Cycle day

CM = Cervical Mucus

DE = Donor Eggs

DI = Donor Insemination

DPO = Days Post-Ovulation

DPR = Days Post-Retrieval (IVF)

DPT = Days Post-Transfer (IVF)

DP3DT = Days Post 3 day Transfer

DP5DT = Days Post 5 day Transfer

Dx = Diagnosis

E2 = Estradiol (Estrogen)

EPT = Early Pregnancy Test

ET = Embryo Transfer (IVF)

FET = Frozen Embryo Transfer

FSH = Follicle Stimulating Hormone

FV = Fertile vibes

HPT = Home Pregnancy Test

IF = Infertility

IUI = Intrauterine Insemination

IVF = In Vitro Fertilization

LAP = Laparoscopy

LH = Luteinizing Hormone

LP = Luteal Phase

LPD = Luteal Phase Defect

MC or m/c = Miscarriage

O or OV = Ovulation

OPT = Ovulation Predictor Test

OTC = Over the Counter

PCOS = Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

PCT = Postcoital Test

PG = Pregnant

PI = Primary Infertility

RE = Reproductive Endocrinologist

SA = Semen Analysis

SI = Secondary Infertility

TMI = Too much information!

TTC = Trying to Conceive

UR = Urologist

US or u/s = Ultrasound
